Budget 2022: To increase housing demand, CREDAI demanded tax exemption in the budget

Budget 2022: Confederation of Real Estate Developers’ Associations of India, an organization of realty companies, has demanded from the government to increase the scope of tax exemption in the upcoming budget to increase the sale of houses.

Real estate conglomerate CREDAI has sought a slew of tax reliefs to boost demand for homes, including raising the limit on deduction of interest on home loans to Rs 5 lakh from the current Rs 2 lakh. CREDAI (Confederation of Real Estate Developers Associations of India) in the budget recommendation sent to the Finance Ministry has also sought changes in the definition of infrastructure and affordable homes for the region.

Home buyers will get relief!
CREDAI National President Harsh Vardhan Patodia expressed hope that the upcoming budget will give a much needed boost to the infrastructure development and housing sector through various amendments, relaxations and extensions. Patodia said, “We request the Finance Ministry to further deduct the interest for home buyers for tax exemption under section 24(b). This will strengthen the home buying sentiment especially at a time when the third wave of the pandemic has started and the times are going very tough.

Common man can get relief
It is expected that along with the coming budget, the Finance Minister can make announcements to speed up the economic reforms. According to media reports, Sitharaman may also take decisions to promote entrepreneurship in the country. In the last budget, the government did not make any changes to the tax regime, which means no significant relief was announced for taxpayers.
